Birdie isn’t just any French Bulldog—she’s a little soul who fills her family’s life with laughter, snorts, and unconditional love. But earlier this month, that joy was replaced with concern for her health. Birdie gave us all quite the scare.

After a day of vomiting, Birdie’s mom knew something wasn’t right. She presented with no obvious abdominal pain but due to her history of foreign material ingestion, Dr. Brooks was right to order radiographs. It turned out Birdie had swallowed cushion stuffing—a
harmless-looking bit of fluff that nearly became life-threatening. The X-rays revealed her stomach was stretched and filled with material that, if left untreated, could have been dire.

Time was everything. After failed attempts to induce vomiting, Dr. Brooks and our team acted quickly heading into foreign body removal surgery. In the operating room, we carefully performed an exploratory procedure and sure enough, removed wads of cushion stuffing.
When she awoke, she was met by a team ready to surround her with love and round-the-clock care.

Birdie’s story isn’t just about a foreign body surgery—it’s about resilience, teamwork, and the unbreakable bond between pets and their families. She’s living proof that even in scary moments, love and quick action can turn the tide.

Today, Birdie is back to her happy, goofy self. Her story reminds us to cherish the silly, messy, joyful moments with our pets—and to never underestimate what a little vigilance (and a lot of love) can prevent. 💚🐾✨
