This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight Chris, our dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician whose love for animals shines through in everything he does.

What inspired you to work in veterinary medicine?
“My love for animals and wanting to help the ones that can’t tell us what’s wrong with them. That’s all animals — I love helping and being their voice.”

What do you love most about your job as a veterinary technician?
My understanding of animal care has been profoundly transformed by my educational journey. Before enrolling in school, I considered myself a responsible pet owner, but I now realize the extent of my previous knowledge gaps. I wasn’t fully aware of the many ways we can actively contribute to the well-being and health of animals.

The most rewarding aspect of my current role is the opportunity to apply the knowledge I’ve gained. Every day, I utilize what I’ve learned to make a tangible difference in the lives of the animals under my care. This newfound ability to positively impact their health and happiness is incredibly fulfilling. It’s a privilege to be able to use my skills to advocate for and support these creatures, ensuring they receive the best possible care. Knowing that my actions contribute directly to their comfort and recovery brings immense satisfaction and purpose to my work.

How do you continue to grow in the field?
“I plan to continue my education, gaining knowledge from both formal schooling and practical experience working with diverse animal species. This field constantly offers new learning opportunities.”

What is the most rewarding part of working at Freddie’s Place?
“At the end of the day, it’s that feeling of accomplishment — knowing I helped animals in pain feel better and seeing the relief and smiles on owners’ faces when their pets are okay. That’s the best part. Every wagging tail, every purr of contentment, every grateful lick from a pet that was once suffering, those are the moments that truly make this job worthwhile. It’s not just about the medical procedures or the diagnostic tests; it’s about the profound connection we forge with these animals and their human companions.

And, of course, the staff — it’s great working with such a dedicated and compassionate team. We’re more than just colleagues; we’re a family. We support each other through the challenging cases, celebrate the successes, and always strive to provide the best possible care for every creature that comes through our doors.

The camaraderie and shared passion for animal welfare create an incredibly positive and productive environment. This collaborative spirit is essential, especially when facing complex medical situations or managing the emotional toll that sometimes comes with our work. Knowing you have a team that understands, empathizes, and is always ready to lend a hand makes all the difference.” supportive team.
