Cheyenne Burnett, DVM
Dr. Burnett, a native of Carlsbad, California, is a seasoned veterinary professional with a passion for emergency medicine and fear-free handling of pets. Her journey in veterinary medicine began at the young age of 17, when she embarked on a path as a veterinary assistant while still in high school.
Earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology from UC San Diego, Dr. Burnett’s dedication to animal care led her to gain diverse experience, working as a vet tech in a general practice while also working in leadership at SeaWorld during her undergraduate years. Following her passion, she delved deeper into the field, serving as a surgery and emergency room technician in a specialty hospital while pursuing her veterinary degree at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona.
It was at WesternU where Dr. Burnett found her educational fit, drawn to their problem-based learning approach that honed critical thinking skills. Graduating in 2016, she furthered her expertise through a rigorous rotating internship at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, completing it in 2017.
Since then, Dr. Burnett has dedicated herself to emergency medicine, serving in various capacities in specialty hospitals and urgent care facilities. Her commitment to providing exceptional care, coupled with her fervor for fear-free handling techniques and soft tissue surgery, led her to join the team at Freddie’s Place Animal Hospital + Urgent Care.
